Blow your socks off!

Hey you,

I was remembering my first week at varsity and I thought of you; O-week starts next week right? Anyway, I just thought I should tell you a bit about my first week at Rhodes…
Well, it started off with ‘the Great Depression’; I was so sad to leave my two-week boyfriend behind, only to come to some little town in the middle of nowhere: Grahamstown. It was hard to be as excited as the other girls because all I could think of was how much I missed everyone back home. Although I had some really awesome moments during O-week, I realize now that I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else did. I had such a negative attitude towards everything and maybe if I had tried to ease up on the ‘boyfriend issues’ and interacted more with the girls in my residence, I would know everyone better today. As a consequence, even now, I find it hard to fit into my residence and to get along with the girls. Coming back to my story: eventually, my boyfriend and I broke up soon after O-week and I found the most amazing guy ever! So, in other words, don’t fret about your boyfriend back home because often those kind of relationships don’t last - especially if you have only been going out for two weeks – because of the distance, and eventually you’ll grow apart. Rather, have fun and go wild during your first week at varsity. “You only live once!” And sooner or later, I’m sure you will find someone to enjoy your university life with. But for the moment, just think of the week ahead and all the good times that you going to have. Take lots of pictures!
Cheers!
